Meet the Directors

Kathy Bruins, Director

Kathy Bruins is co-founder of Calgary Early Learning Centre. Her 13 years of experience in private preschool environments have given her the foundation for a great understanding of quality early learning. Kathy is looking forward to seeing Calgary Early Learning Centre become a leader in early childhood education.

In addition to her role as director, Kathy is also a teacher in the Senior Kindergarten program at Calgary Early Learning Centre. Kathy received her Bachelor of Education (with Distinction) from the University of Lethbridge and has been teaching kindergarten in Calgary for 14 years. Kathy prides herself in creating a learning environment that fosters each child’s unique abilities. In her classroom it is Kathy’s goal to “teach each child for tomorrow” and to create in each of her students, the foundation for a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

Patricia Kelly-Smith, Director

A co-founder of Calgary Early Learning Centre, Patricia Kelly-Smith brings her 25 years of experience in the private preschool field to her role as Director. Patricia knows her strong understanding of children’s developmental needs will be an asset to the students and families of Calgary Early Learning Centre.

Patricia received her Early Childhood Education Diploma from the Loyalist College of Ontario. She uses her E.C.E. training as a teacher in the three year old program. Patricia is certain the loving and warm environment she creates in her classroom provides an optimal foundation for early childhood education excellence.
